DOG LAWS ON CEREDIGION BEACHES
All beaches in Ceredigion are designated under the dogs (fouling of land) act 1996 under which it is an offense- punishable by a fine of up to £1,000 – not to clean up after your dog. DOG RESTRICTIONS DURING THE BATHING SEASON (1st May to 30th September annually). There are only two public beaches on Ceredigion’s coastline where pet dogs are completely banned during certain times of the year, those involve two beaches managed by the national trust at Penbryn and Mwnt.
ABERAERON
Dogs are prohibited on the south beach between the first groyne to the south of beach parade and the harbour walls between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
ABERPORTH
Dogs are prohibited from Dolwen Beach between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
ABERYSTWYTH (South Beach)
Dogs are prohibited from Aberystwyth’s South Beach between Castle Headland (northern limit) and the first groyne at the end of South Marine Terrace (southern limit) between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
ABERYSTWYTH (North Beach)
Dogs are prohibited from Aberystwyth’s North Beach between the north side of the landing stage and the extreme northern end of the Beach at Craig Glais between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
LLANGRANNOG
Dogs are prohibited from the beach area between Nant Hawen and Pen Rhip between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
NEW QUAY (Harbour beach)
Dogs are prohibited from the harbour beach between the pier and Penpolion between the 1st May and the 30th September inclusive
TRESAITH
Dogs are prohibited from the southern beach area between the beach access point and Carreg-y-Ddafad between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
